"A spokesperson for Germany’s government says Ukraine should decide when to hold peace talks with Russia, after reports suggested the United States had encouraged Kyiv to signal openness to discussions."
my view on that is - Ukraine: never.
/e "Ukraine’s president has ruled out negotiations with Moscow while Russian President Vladimir Putin is in power."
And my view on that is - the next guy will probably be worse...

"Ukraine has received its first delivery of NASAMS and Apside air defence systems from Norway, Spain and the United States, the country’s defence minister has said. “We will continue to shoot down the enemy targets attacking us. Thank you to our partners: Norway, Spain and the US,” Oleksii Reznikov tweeted."
MSM is pumping out articles of US and other western countries encouraging Ukraine to seek a negotiation, i've noticed this over the last week or so.
None of us really know what's happening behind the scenes. This could either be smoke and mirrors while military aid and money keeps flowing or it could be a sign that support for Ukraine is waning and Europe wants this to be over sooner rather than later.
If Ukraine goes dark during the winter, you probably would have another big wave of refugees. Hundreds of thousands? Maybe even a few million more? These people coming are fully reliant on aid. Like how many more people can rich countries like Germany absorb? These people in the short-medium term need fully subsidized housing, foods, medical aid etc. Realistically I would think over 1k euro per month per person--all coming from an already pressured social net.
