Well, if someone believes that being a female in the race against Trump would be a hindrance, but not insurmountable, then he does still technically believe that a woman can become president.

So in this sense, Bernie's insistance on believing in the possibility of a female president doesnt rule out that he could hold a "chauvinist" view on the current political climate, i.e. that he thinks a female candidate would have lower odds at beating Trump and that females therefore are less "electable" than men.

i love how people are still trying to make this a thing through ridiculous "well, acktchually, and tekknichally he could totally still be a chauvinist" constructions, when those accusations have his whole political career as evidence against them...

Sounds like Bernie said something and is having his works twisted around the manipulated to be something that it's not.

Warren is playing word games because she is desperate.

This ultimately benefits trump.

pointing out that the answers he gave so far dont really address the core of the issue (whether Bernie believes that women are less electable) is not ridiculous, or hackery, it's well justified.

at the end of the day, no one will in good faith really believe that Bernie has a lower opinion of women than men. what we dont know, however, is what Bernie thinks of the American electorate. it's well within the realm of possibility that he considers the electorate to contain a relevant number of sexists or racists, and that a white dude therefore will indeed be more "electable" than a woman or a PoC.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm guessing that Klobuchar's supporter incomes and educations are boosted by her mostly White base as well as some regional differences vs other candidates. I would like to see the same figures controlled for race.

In any case, it does demonstrate the difference between Warren supporters and Sanders supporters, even though they are both the two most liberal candidates left and have mostly White bases.

Everyone's base will be mostly white due to demographics. However, both Biden and Sanders have the most diverse coalitions.

Biden more so than Sanders. The latter is doing marginally better with nonwhites than Warren or Buttigieg, but the difference between how these three are doing with minorities is relatively small. Even Sanders hasnt really made a dent yet into Biden's commanding lead among blacks, and minorities in general. That blacks have largely stuck with Biden until now is the main reason why he's still the front-runner.

Bernie is actually doing a lot better with POC now. However, they are significantly younger and more progressive. It seems that Bernie is "woke" enough for everyone that age.

Hmm, well, he is playing up his racially progressive stances more this campaign (when compared to 2016). He's also noticably going out of his way to say "Trump is a racist" as often as possible. I guess he learned from the problems of his 2016 campaign.
And the AOC endorsement has probably been a game changer for his appeal to young, progressive poc.

But my point still stands that Biden continues to do a whole lot better than Bernie with nonwhites.
