Ding ding ding. I actually believe that Bernie said something along those lines, but bringing it up in public would only lead to a toxic, destructive discussion that hurts Democrats.

Also, can we talk about how weak Warren's "I am the only one on this stage who has defeated an incumbent Republican"-argument is? For two Senators from MA and VT, it's simply a question of "luck" to have had the chance to run against an incumbent Republican in the first place. Similarly, her "never lost a race"-argument is misleading, considering the time Bernie and Biden have spent in politics compared to herself. What indeed is a good argument against Biden is the way his previous presidential bids failed miserably. That's indicative of him being a not-so-great politician.

Warren is a top-tier politician. She’s lied about so much trivial shit and yet she’s still a Biden heart murmur away from the nomination

I don't think Warren has much of a chance. She's fallen quite hard since this summer. I really think it is between Biden and Sanders at this point, and I'd give Buttigieg a better outside shot than Warren.

I don't think Warren is actually that great of a politician. She had succeeded by being a policy wonk, but she doesn't have much charisma. And she hasn't rolled well with recent political adversity.

But sound of the moment was caught by CNN's microphones and found Wednesday.

"I think you called me a liar on national TV," Warren can be heard saying.

"What?" Sanders responded.

"I think you called me a liar on national TV," she repeated.

"You know, let's not do it right now. If you want to have that discussion, we'll have that discussion," Sanders said, to which Warren replied, "Anytime."

"You called me a liar," Sanders continued. "You told me -- all right, let's not do it now."

After their exchange, fellow Democratic candidate Tom Steyer, who had been standing behind the two senators, can be heard saying, "I don't want to get in the middle. I just want to say hi Bernie."

Specifically, Warren's rise in the polls came during a time when only policy wonks pay attention to the primary race yet. Biden and Sanders are the ones to gain when a wider audience starts tuning in.

based on what? his decades of legislative history supporting women's rights, the makeup of his campaign team, literally every public statement he ever made regarding gender equality, or him encouraging warren to run in the first place in 2015?

Bernie has a record of being a slimy campaigner. He has a habit of denying that something bad took place, admitting it a week or two later but downplaying what happened, then taking action MUCH MUCH later.

I imagine that Bernie told Warren something along the lines of "it would be difficult for a woman to beat Donald Trump and I believe I can. You would struggle."

how would he be 'lying' then by answering "no" to the question if he told her a that woman couldn't be president then? it would neither have been 'something bad' that he denied happening, nor even suggesting that a woman couldn't become president.

you can't have it both ways, trying to appear reasonable with what might have happened, and at the same time claiming that sanders is a liar and slimy...

Well, if someone believes that being a female in the race against Trump would be a hindrance, but not insurmountable, then he does still technically believe that a woman can become president.

So in this sense, Bernie's insistance on believing in the possibility of a female president doesnt rule out that he could hold a "chauvinist" view on the current political climate, i.e. that he thinks a female candidate would have lower odds at beating Trump and that females therefore are less "electable" than men.

The essence of the question isn't whether he said that exact thing. It's whether or not he believes that America is inherently sexist and/or HE is also sexist/chauvinistic.
