The big difference between Iran and Saudi Arabia is that Iran has a tradition and history as a liberal, modern, relatively unreligious country (by the standards of the region) before the revolution, while Saudi Arabia has no such tradition whatsoever. Furthermore, the main political fault line in Saudi Arabia lies between a distinct Sunni majority and a much smaller Shiite minority, while Iran is divided right down the middle between religious traditionalists and freedom-seeking liberals/modernists. And last but not least, Saudi Arabia is a much richer country, they have significantly more revenue per capita than Iran which they can use to appease their people with economic prosperity.

The difference is that iran won't play by what the americans want. And americans are pissed as fuck because iran used to be an western colony(more or less). . that is it.

Wealth has nothing to do with it, iran would be far more wealthy if it wasnt because of the sanctions. In the future sanctions will have less and less pull because a new economic powerhouse and alternative is being formed(brics) which iran eventually will join and have more access to.
