Being reliable vs unreliable doesn't happen in a vacuum it's dependent on something no? They're not squeezing Europe's energy just because they are evil, they are doing it as a response to Europe's support for Ukraine in the war. You can't separate the two. Seems like an obvious thing but largely glossed over point.
I am inclined to agree with what you're implying, whilst not overtly interested in why Russia is an unreliable supplier of energy for Europe going forward. Simply stating that it is the case.
Some of the implications of that, I suspect are -
In the short term, a very challenging and expensive time for European consumers. Record profits for energy companies as wholesale gas prices rise.
In the long term, a loss of revenue to Russia in supplying the EU. Probably a shift to supplying Asia and or relying on manipulating the price of their commodities. In an attempt to replenish revenue lost in supplying Europe.
I don't have the expertise to compare the EU and for example China or India as potential markets for Russian gas. I would assume that the EU is an established net importer. While China is a developing market with huge potential. Whilst infrastructure is not currently in place.
I wouldn't doubt Russia or China's ability to install a network eg. pipeline from Urals to the Chinese market. It would also be naive to underestimate the expense and timescale of such an undertaking.
