6k KIA out of an initial invasion force of 190k. Guess it's time to call up 300k-1m+, because 6k are KIA.

I didn't claim one or the other was or was not terrorism, you did.

That said, I don't see them as similar acts because unlike the US - which bombs everything from power plants to hospitals to government offices and even by the lower, discrete counts saw some 7,000 deaths - the civilian death toll from the last week of Russian strikes is very low, possibly under 100. This evidences a much more humane or at least restrictive targeting regime.

Further, the acts are different due to the contexts of the war. Russia avoided doing this for months, America did it immediately. Russia tried for 8 years to prevent this war from happening, America was planning the invasion of Iraq even before the planes hit the towers and engaged in a global campaign of lies to do it.

They aren't similar situations, Shock and Awe is worse in magnitude, in intent, and legally.

Frankly, anyone who draws equivalence between the last week in Ukraine and the months of bombing in Iraq is probably racist just based on body counts alone.

Funny how Russians can post videos of tragedies without having to blur the entire bottom half of the screen out of fear of their murderous internal security forces.

Cope and seethe. Russia doesn't lie about their deaths because when you're winning you don't need to.

Russia is making excuses for why it can't stop US-made HIMARS from shredding its military in Ukraine (Insider)

"Why can't Russia destroy Ukraine's US-made HIMARS rocket launchers?

Western defense experts say. The likely reason is Russian incompetence."

Here incompetence is more about doctrine and technology than just poor training. HIMARS and other truck mounted artillery/rocket systems of the NATO variety, are designed to "shoot and scoot" - firing a barrage at a target, then rapidly redeploying. Russian systems are cumbersome, as our prior discussion of the S-600 demonstrated, and have more limited detection range.

Counter-battery radar in the Russian system assume a ballistic trajectory and calculate their parabolas from that point, reversing the trajectory to identify the point of launch.

HIMARS presents two variables that confound that process. First, as a rocket-propelled munition, the x-component is not constant (as an artillery shell would be). Second, the HIMARS range exceeds the calculations of the counter-battery computers operated by Russia. Instead of intercepting the target in the red dot zone in the illustration above, they don't detect it until it passes the apex in the magenta or blue zone. Finally, of course, by the time they calculate the solution, the target has departed, and the counter-battery fires hit empty fields.

Tbh whenever I hear Arestovych or Zelensky claim shooting down like 20 out of 25 Kalibr strikes consistently like every other day I'm skeptical. Every time I saw a video of these zooming by posted by an Ukrainian they are either cruising unmolested or changing directions mid-air to slam into some target. Don't think i'v seen footage of one being taken down by air-defense.

Reminds me of how on 9/11, brave US air force pilots successfully shot down 23 out of 27 suicide airliners that were en route to targets along the east coast.

Since early April, Russian forces have captured a grand total of 2 cities (Mariupol and Lysychansk), both of which they had to bomb into the absolute ground before taking over their ruins. Since early July, they haven't made any noteworthy gains anymore while steadily losing ground. Meanwhile, they are wasting $1m-a-piece cruise missiles to shell residential areas and parking lots across Ukraine so that they can appease their wounded ego.

The Iranian drones have proven effective so far, but that's mostly because Ukraine wasn't prepared for them. With jammers and fresh western anti-air arriving every day, this tactical advantage will probably remain short-lived. Also, the Iranian regime has plenty of trouble at home, they don't look like the most reliable supplier right now...

Russia's 300k draft has breathed new life into Russia's forces, but that, too, seems short-lived. The fresh recruits are undertrained, underequipped and undermotivated. Furthermore, even this very limited draft sparked strong pushback in Russia, this is a card that Putin probably cannot play again without risking serious domestic unrest.

All in all, Russia's military position is tenuous at best. They have lost the initiative and are basically scrambling to somehow hang in there until winter (THE staple of Russian strategy since 1812).
