Large concentration of Russian and Belorussian troops and armor being reported heading and already in the Belorussian city of Gomel.

Gomel is one of the shortest points to Kiev. So the Russians are either a. Planning to push from the north once again (maybe with Kiev as a target?) or b. They are using this to divert Ukrainian resources both troops/air defenses etc from the east and south.

Must be a diversion. Kyiv is a big city and heavily fortified, there's no chance in hell this new force could actually siege, let alone capture, a city of this size and significance.

I think if they attack it's to try to force Ukraine to the negotiating table. One of the main reasons Ukraine has been fairly reluctant to negotiate/concede the east is because the war has been relatively contained within the east and south. Life largely goes on in the north and west as before. Sure there's the occasional strike on barracks or some military/defensive structure but IMO it doesn't have a war-time feel to it. If Russia starts setting up mrls systems 50km from Kiev and starts turning Kiev into Mariupol or Severodonetsk, that's a lot more painful for Ukraine. Who knows though, maybe it is just a way to spread Ukraine thinner meanwhile the Donbass and/or the south being the true goal.

Russia continues to conduct massive, forced deportations of Ukrainians that likely amount to a deliberate ethnic cleansing campaign in addition to apparent violations of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated on October 14 that “several thousand” children from Kherson Oblast are “already in other regions of Russia, resting in rest homes and children’s camps

Belarus, militarily, does not exist, it is just a means, Belarusian territory, for Russia to attack Ukraine from Belarus. There are currently more Belarusians fighting with Ukraine against Russia than Belarusians fighting against Ukraine.

Elon Musk was briefly placed as a bounty onto the Ukrainian kill list website Myrotvorets, before they realized the mistake of drawing that much attention to the fact Ukrainian Nazis have been openly keeping kill lists of journalists, pundits and politicians they plan to murder. So now for the umpteenth time pro-Ukrainian journalists are tasked with downplaying the fact Ukrainian Nazis keep a kill list website right out in the open

Russia propaganda claims that it's only attacking military and defensive structures. The myriad of pictures and clips of shelled residential buildings and blown up streets prove them wrong. Sure, life in the West and North is not nearly as disrupted as in the South and East, but they also still have to fear Russian missiles at any moment.

What makes you think the Ukrainian military would just sit back and twiddle thumbs while the Russian army sets up MRLS in range of Kyiv? Imho, it's blatantly obvious that they would nip such an attempt in the bud. The Russians had a much higher number of troops marching on Kyiv in the opening phase of this war and couldn't sustain their presence in its vicinity, why should that be different now? The true tactical values lies in the fact that the Russian corps in Belarus poses this threat and thus forces some additional Ukrainian troops to remain in Kyiv instead of joining the operations in the South and East.

How relevant is this website? Does it have a large number of users, or does it have users who have outsized influence on Ukrainian politics or the country's public opinion?

Its been making news for months and got the attention of the UN Human Rights Commission. It was supposedly a much bigger deal in post-Euromaidan Ukraine in the 2014-2015 span when it was used to coordinate the murder of journalists / writers / dissidents while the CIA was micromanaging affairs, but then it was an insular Ukrainian kill list so nobody really paid attention in the west even though it had the fingerprints of western intelligence all over it. It was specifically being used by the Azov Battalion Nazis to terrorize people within Ukraine;
https://www.state.gov/report/custom/163ebf0d3b/
But after the war went hot this year, that site has increasingly targeted foreign journalists operating inside Ukraine / Russia and the warzones, political opposition abroad like Dugin or Kissinger, and some celebrities like Roger Waters and now Elon Musk
So its got an outsized influence and was definitely used by the Ukrainian Nazis in prior years, its debatable if there's any connection between the Ukrainian operatives carrying out international terrorist attacks and those organizing the kill list, but they're certainly targeting the same people.
