Not sure how to understand that statement: you mean that Russia has special rights or that Russia is viewed the same "as countries between them? Correct would be the second statement though
I mean the first one.
It started with Napoleon age, and Germans/France consider only themselves and Russians in the European politics.
Obvious way to do is to get Ukraine into NATO. Maybe not now, when there is an active war, but once there is a cease fire they should be get into asap.
Yet I dont really see it happening, I have a feeling that many politicians dont really consider any countries between them and Russia as important, as subject in politics, and consider them an Item in politics. They kind of give Russia free hand to do anything it wants in Central Europe.
Its lame, and stupid also, since they cant be sure Russia wont invade them when they get bigger, stronger.
The safest way for them to do would be to make a shield out of the willing eastern European countries, yet they seem too stupid for it because they still tend to think its Napoleon era and only 3 subjects in European politics.
This is also a reason why central European countries allies with America, we kind of understand that we cant really rely on German/French leadership in Europe, as for these countries Russia is no#1 subject to talk to, and they would gladly trade over central Europe to Russian regime, which we obviously dont want.
