Merkel already says lasting peace in Europe can be reached only with Russia’s involvement.
Germany/France dont consider countries between them and Russia as equal partners and give a special status and rights to Russia.
They would gladly freeze the conflict now, so that Russia get a chance to rebuild their army and attack again.
Not a good idea, a terrible idea.
Fortunately mr Biden is USA president and will not let that happen and keep "selling" weapons to Ukraine.
For me the minimum plan for permanent peace is move Russians back into pre24feb borders, accepting any new conquests would mean helping and rewarding Russia for their decision to attack on feb24.
If we reward Russians, they will attack, that's how reward system works. And the next time they will be possibly better prepared to war.
Russians did a terrible job so far in the war, but they can possibly improve in the future. They might be alcoholics, they might be villains and terrorists, but they arent stupid people and should not be underestimated.
