I dont know if he's a good candidate. Looking good next to creepy uncle Joe, Pocahontas and Comrade Bernie doesnt exactly tell us too much about a candidate other than that he doesnt have glaring weaknesses.
At the end of the day, Buttigieg is more or less a "white Obama". But what made Obama so uniquely strong was his appeal to both parts of the 'Obama coalition', to college-educated white liberals and to African Americans/poc in general.

Buttigieg has strong appeal with college-educated whites, they're his base, but he doesnt resonate with blacks so far, not at all. He'd probably stand no chance in Florida, and I dont know if a prim and proper son of professors with Ivy League education and the corresponding habitus would really resonate that well with disgruntled workers in Michigan or western Pennsylvania.

He's smart and savvy and has plenty of time to turn things around, but as it stands right now, I dont know if he would really make for a stronger candidate than Biden.

White Obama would be great. America loved Obama.

And he's running against Trump, a very polarizing guy. He will get votes from people who like him, and votes from people who hate trump.

What is wrong with having a clean moderate without a ton of baggage again?

I know you have a difficult time being objective. So explain it to me like I'm an 8th grader.

Mmhhh... the liberal half of the country loved him, ~30% hated him, and 20% were 'meh' about him.

True. On the other hand, warnings that the world is gonna end if Trump is elected will no longer work this time around. Trump's 2016 campaign was a chaotic mess, a trainwreck with no one in the drivers seat; and it only received tepid support from the party establishment and some parts of the Republican donor class. Hillary outspent him two to one.

This time, he will have the resources and institutional support to run a much more professional campaign. While the Democratic candidates are at each other's throat, he's heaping up a massive warchest. The Republican party has largely been purged of critics, so it should be more unified and supportive of his campaign. He has largely tried his best to follow through on his campaign promises from 4 years ago, even though some things have turned out to be unachievable for the time being. And this time, he and his advisors have enough experience to draw from - they saw over the last 4 years which of his topics and rhetoric resonated with voters, which ones were 'winners' and which ones were too polarizing.

Nothing. Just that jumping from being the mayor of South Bend, Indiana to being the president of the United States is a huge jump. He's quite underqualified in any traditional sense.
Another thing that stands out about Buttigieg is that he's the darling of the donor class. He'd stand for the same thing as Obama: a leftward shift on social/cultural issues, but a preservation of the status quo on the economy. I really dont think that this is what the country needs right now.

But dont get me wrong: if I had to pick the next president out of the Democrats' current 'big 4', Buttigieg would be my choice.

All these criticisms really hollow from you considering your support for an inexperienced reality television show guy with no political experience who is very unpopular who around 50% of the country actually want impeached and removed for legitimate abuses of power, particular handling foreign policy like a drug dealer.

It might come down to people wanting a dignified leader, but Trump will probably win and we might have to wait for that.

The POTUS sole purpose is to be the face of foreign policy for the US, so why is Trump better than Pete at this only constitutional function outside of signing laws into effect? Pete will have less conflicts of interest to hide from us.

My arguments were referring to the Buttigieg vs Obama comparison.

The thing about inexperience... I'd argue that leading the Trump organization is a more difficult job than being the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

I bet the government in South Bend cares about people. He has shitty hotels and second rate casinos. Yeah, let's hit Jersey City, says nobody. I'm making a Trump streak right now, paid for with my badass job with my degree from Trump University. How many people working for Trump do you think graduated from Trump U? Probably lots.

yeah that’s why Buttigieg has issues with his cops harassing and physically attacking minorities for no reason (hence his very low or near-zero support with certain groups)

https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/18/politics/tulsi-gabbard-present-impeachment/index.html

Quote
(CNN)Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii voted "present" on both articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Wednesday, later slamming the process as politically motivated.

Gabbard's vote did not jeopardize the easy House majorities to charge Trump with abuse of power followed by obstruction of Congress. But the move aligned with her previously wavering on impeachment, having run as the sole Democrat not in favor of an impeachment inquiry before deciding to support it.

"After doing my due diligence in reviewing the 658-page impeachment report, I came to the conclusion that I could not in good conscience vote either yes or no," Gabbard, who declined to talk with reporters following her votes, said in a statement soon afterward.

This is the kind of bold leadership Americans are yearning for.
