I mean, Nicaragua (in central America) is one of Russia's few allies. We wouldn't care, from a security standpoint, if Russia put nukes there.
Well maybe not anymore. Russia no money , no influence in central and south america anymore
You cared during the Cuban missile crisis.
You sanction that tiny Communist island for I dunno how many years till the Obama administration made some progress in normalizing relations with them and Trump took it all away and Biden administration haven't rectify the relationships ( Not entirely sure)
You cared when the de facto Dictator Noriega of Panama switched his alliance to the Soviet Bloc in 1989 ( Soviet is in their end days by the way ) ending with an invasion of Panama and capturing him and putting him onto Trial in the United States.
United Nations reaction here below.

But what I am befuddled by is, how come Fidel Castro wasn't assassinated after so many years and yet you can invade Panama in such a short time capturing their " leader " to be place on trial in the united states with such precision.
Also, it is pointless saying America doesn't care about Russians putting Nukes in Nicaragua now.
Back in the 60s or 70s, America will flip.
