Adam Schiff actually pulled call records for journalist John Solomon to spy on him as part of their fishing campaign. What kind of precedent does this set? Are we going to just gloss over the fact that for purely partisan political reasons the democrats are now using house powers to spy on journalists and comb through their records?

Theres no pretense of national security bullshit excuse like when Obama spied on journalists here. Its 100% acknowledged to be a political motive. The rights of the free press are so defunct that we've skipped right past any debate about protecting sources or journalistic integrity and nobody even cares when politicians spy on journalists or lock them in prison anymore like Assange

but hey, "Jamal Khashoggi!!"

more nefarious activities like wiretapping and spying going on plain as day and the election-deniers will still say it’s a ‘conspiracy theory’ to talk about it

republicans will pretend to be open to arguments and facts, then they will claim it's just politically motivated, they will discredit and smear the witnesses and complain and lie about the legality of the process, they will do their best to avoid the substance of the allegations - and in the end, senate republicans will unanimously vote against impeachment, no matter how damning the evidence of what trump already publicly admitted is.

it's a predictable and disgusting little show. trump is guilty as a puppy sitting next to a pile of poo, everybody knows it, and still he will get away with it - those are some great 'checks and balances' you have right there...

Turley is the only witness against impeaching.

His stance seems silly to me. Its almost like he is regurgitating GOP talking points in a nicer way.

I don't think this is going well at all for the Dems today because the GOP witness is simply saying that we need to slow down until we have all the facts. This timeline to impeach before the end of the year seems to be playing into the hand's of the GOP. I think it's best for Trump to continue to lose in court and to keep the investigations open. At the end of the day, you're going to get a sham "trial" anyway due to McConnell so keeping the investigation in the House makes more sense.

So jonathan was cool with impeaching Clinton for getting a BJ but Trump gets a pass on everything he stands for and or has done? What a joke.

And ya know what the main issue is that MOST people seem to be missing? The precedent that the things that the Dems are doing (at this time), will set.

We all know that once a precedent is set, it's hard as hell to get rid of it, again. I don't think folks realize that THEY will have to live in the kind of world they are allowing to be created. Like warrant-less spying for example. That will filter down to even the common man sooner rather than later. Other things like the #metoo craze, if it catches on, will also filter down to even the regular people.

The old saying that "your bed is what you make it", is so VERY true today, and will come back to haunt people in their future.

This kangaroo court BS that's happening right now, will be the very same court that one or more of YOU will be sitting in one day. While it may seem like a good idea right now, it might NOT seem like such a great idea when one of YOU is on the hot seat.

You may cheer on mob rule right now, if it gets you something you want, right now. But what happens at some future date, when one of YOU is the "victim" of this same latitude you give the mob today.

Consequences doncha know.

So the Democrats have a fair investigation even though they are hiding the informant's identity but the Republicans won't ??

The Democrats focus is strictly on the administrations behavior and their goal is to limit the context. Would a more comprehensive investigation be appropriate? Probably. However, impeachment is political so the Democrats won't do that.

The Republicans will defend the leader of the party if it's politically viable for them to do so. Only a slight majority of the country wants Trump to be removed from office and that's simply not enough to get the GOP to convict.
