I don't see how Putin could get overthrown by someone more committed to his ideology. If he gets assassinated, it's because Russians believe this war is bad for Russia, not because Putin's not fighting it as viciously as he could be.

The blame for the war would mostly die with Putin. A replacement would immediately set other countries onto a path of trying to work with the new Russian government.

That said, I'm deeply skeptical that a state with the largest nuclear weapons stockpile is going to experience a successful coup. Although America came close a couple years ago.

It is a very bizarre concept to what is going down. If it can be proven that Russia have caused the 3 explosions on the Nordic gas line then Nato with be involved. If 1 gets proven then article 5 will be used.

You "don't see" because you think the narrative peddled in the West is something universally held.

In the generalized Russian view, Putin extensively tried to negotiate and work with the West for decades and was repeatedly spurned. His attempts to negotiate with and to keep avenues of negotiation open to the West is further exemplified by the nature this SMO has taken, with limited troop numbers, no/restrained strikes on dual-use infrastructure, favourable POW swaps, etc. These things are largely seen as contributing to the lackluster performance of Russia in this conflict.

If Putin is summarily replaced, he will be replaced with someone who made these criticisms and preferred a more committed approach to the conflict. Not someone like Kasparov or some generic corporate shill, but someone more like Ramzan Kadyrov, though obviously not him specifically.

First you guys banned Ukraine into NATO, which resulted in Ukraine being neutral thus a target for Russians.
Then you made yourself fully energy dependant on a single gas pipelines from evil Russia, shutting down your nuclear plants, a cheap and reliable source of clean energy.
Then you never really invest enough in your army, never meet NATO guidelines on army spending and rely on USA to always protect you instead.
USA see it doesnt make sense to cooperate with you, you guys arent mature enough to take a leader role in European security politics.
You only care about your country, without looking at others, you wont build a strong Europe with such behavior.

Now USA, UK, Poland, Ukraine and other east European countries build a new group who take care about security seriously.
Germany decided to stay out, then so be it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sweden "discovers" that Russia bombed it's own pipelines, honestly. We've already seen Russia accused of launching missiles from Ukrainian territory into a train station, mortaring it's own nuclear power plant, HIMARSing it's own captured POWs, and now bombing people trying to come from Ukraine-occupied Novorossiya (looool) to safety in the East.

At this point it's not all that hard to imagine a nuke being dropped on Sevastopol and 90% of Western media saying it's a Russian false flag.
