this narrative makes no sense, the west, for now, will continue to arm ukraine. you dont have to agree with me on this.
Did you read what I posted yesterday from RUSI?
The US and other allies are having to pull equipment from active units in their own militaries to give to Ukraine, and the last two "aid" packages have been mostly promises rather than material deliveries. Big news about 18 new HIMARS to Ukraine, but they aren't even built, yet. So, zero HIMARS, and they will slowly trickle in over however long it takes to make them.
Anyways, for updates it seems that Lyman lives another day, the Ukrainians were not successful in fully encircling or taking the city. Russians claim that the road allowing supply was briefly taken by Ukraine and then cleared by a RF counterattack. Road appears to be at least under Ukrainian fire control, who knows. Ukrainians will try again tonight.
Various reports of Ukrainians going all in on Lyman, even drawing troops and equipment away from Bakhmut, which has been under threat for several weeks, now.
It appears the Ukrainians have continued taking a beating in Kherson, and are almost pushed all the way back across the Ingulets.
If Lyman falls, it seems likely to be the last city the Ukrainians are able to take before the mobilization starts filling in Russian numbers in the coming weeks. I see various takes on how important Lyman is, or the town just northeast of it. Not sure what to think of it's importance tbh.
