It's also a pretty pathetic takedown. I've said many times here that I'm not particularly sympathetic to Russia, but I think when you take an anti-imperialist stance you are forced to align with Russia in various ways simply because Russia is taking an oppositional stance wrt Western imperialism. This article's whole thing is "The Saker aligns with Russian talking points", which... OK? I align with a lot of them, and I think Putin is a reactionary moron whose only redeeming quality is keeping Russia together as a singular state.

There's really nothing else there. Just that The Saker aligns with Russian statements on some things, that they have a forum people talk on, and that their articles appear on some other sites. It's really kind of ridiculous that this passes for a takedown or debunking or whatever.

Imperialism doesn't mean "big entity attacks little entity." Imperialism is a process of capital extraction from a periphery into a core. That clearly isn't what's happening here.

Might not be the justification, but it definitely is the ambition/desired outcome. I have a hard time understanding how liberation of eastern Ukraine is not precisely that.
