prior to 2016 nobody was suffering from russia hysteria like they are not. Before the democrat's campaign, it was about as equally nefarious for podesta to meet with Cui Tiankei or the DNC to set up a ukrainian liaison as Trump Jr to meet with some russian lobbyists, but part of the glory of the hysteria is that we can retroactively judge actions and associations through the witch hunt lens instead of the contemporary world, and call it stupid. As far as Don Jr would have cared, he was just skeptically listening to a pitch in hopes of dredging up a longshot oppo lead that turned out to be a bust. Why would that be stupid from his perspective? Nobody could reasonably anticipate the hysteria a year in advance, and just hearing out the lobbyists was far to the safe side of any ethical gray area and a mile into safe legal territory. But a couple years later, we get people shrieking about anyone who has russian dressing on their salad
maybe in our alternate universe where Hillary won we've all been hearing about the yellow scare and the dirty chinamen who cheated the election and pumped millions of dollars into the democrats coffers and the conservative media has been pouring over every connection Hillary and her staff had to the chinese during 2016 and the republican-led special counsel has charged tony podesta and put the disgraced john podesta in jeopardy.
Yes, taking a meeting with a few Russians who want to give you dirt on Hillary as part of the Russian government's effort to support your dad's candidacy for president is totally on the safe side of the ethically gray area. Totally normal, totally healthy.
Oh, and Don Jr, Manafort, and Kushner all going to the meeting sort of contradicts the theory that it was some desperate shot in the dark.
It's going to be fun watching you shill when/if this investigation really starts to heat up.
