- Long range ballistic missiles
- EMP attack
Because it fly or explode too high.

They can intercept at launch or shortly thereafter.
Then we have the anti-ballistic missile cruisers.
We also have other defenses for the OTHER end of the missile path.

Plus, nowhere in the article does it say we would sell THAAD to Japan. That was for South Korea...which is much closer.

You can intercept the lauch if you are close enough that isn't the case here

It's well known thaad is only a partial response, but it works very well against small missiles launched by terrorists groups as example.
Plus it's fuckin expansive, need a lot of them to make a grid, and China hate it lol.
Range is 125 miles for thaad maybe.

Like I said, THAAD was mainly for South Korea because Seoul is so close to North Korea. I would imagine that w/e we sell to Japan, will have a better range.
As for the anti-ballistic missile ships, I would think they have a much greater range. I doubt that information on the exact range is even available.

Trump bullied SK into accepting Thaad. They don't want it.

About 1 month ago, they asked for more THAAD emplacements.
