literally every positive vaccine trial ive seen has been reported. did marco want them to write stories on the fact that vaccines were being worked on? i even saw stories when they made it through phases. look at the stock market thread here, each development got stories and caused stock bumps for pfizer, astrozenica, etc.

his tweet could be summarized as "why they print dumb stuff he say, it make us all look bad."

ABSTRACT

We analyze the tone of COVID-19 related English-language news articles written since January 1, 2020.
Ninety one percent of stories by U.S. major media outlets are negative in tone versus fifty four percent for non-U.S. major sources and sixty five percent for scientific journals.
The negativity of the U.S. major media is notable even in areas with positive scientific developments including school re-openings and vaccine trials.
Media negativity is unresponsive to changing trends in new COVID-19 cases or the political leanings of the audience.
U.S. major media readers strongly prefer negative stories about COVID-19, and negative stories in general.
Stories of increasing COVID-19 cases outnumber stories of decreasing cases by a factor of 5.5 even during periods when new cases are declining.
Among U.S. major media outlets, stories discussing President Donald Trump and hydroxychloroquine are more numerous than all stories combined that cover companies and individual researchers working on COVID-19 vaccines.

Overall, we find that COVID-19 stories from U.S. major media outlets are much more negative than similar stories from other U.S. outlets and from non-U.S. sources.
The negativity does not respond to changes in new cases. Potentially positive developments such as vaccine stories receive less attention from U.S. outlets than do negative stories about Trump and hydroxychloroquine.
Overall, we are unable to explain the variation in negativity with political affiliation of an outlet’s audience, or U.S case count changes, but we do find that U.S. readers demand negative stories (as evidenced by article popularity).
We conclude that the CDC’s implicit “warning label” against consuming too much U.S. COVID-19 media may be warranted

trump says dumb shit off script that has his advisers literally shaking their heads behind him and then the media prints it and republicans cry foul.

yes, US has a more celebrity/gossip focus to its news than other more fact based countries of the world. not a shocker when we have so many people obsessed with celebrity and unconcerned with facts.

This is such a ridiculous characterization of the state of the media its amazing.

We both know it goes far beyond good faith reporting of gaffes. 4+ years of TDS hysteria.
They go out of their way to spin anything into an anti-trump story and literally blame him for a global pandemic.

"On Covid, media emphasized bad news even when we had positive developments & did more Trump/hydroxychloroquine stories than all vaccine stories combined" is a reasonable thing to bring up and is backed up by the evidence provided.

Rubio is correct that the media is overfocussed on celebrities, his implication that this is some new thing or unfair to republicans is not correct.

the GOP likes to play this game where they pretend that they dont know the rules of the game whenever they're losing, this is a prime example.

their party elected a reality TV star and career conman, they know what US media is, but somehow are shocked that 1 + 1 indeed = 2.

Rubio started off as an enemy of Trump, but has rolled over, and for what? a long list of legislative wins? conservative justices that would have been elected even if he was as vocal or more of Trump's issues as Jeff Flake?

he showed his belly because he, like most of the conservatives in Senate/Congress, are scared shitless of Trump's base in their home electorate. Spineless cowards preserving a 200k a year paycheck on the books and millions of under the table influence money. grand standing on the known state of modern media and its celebrity centric meta, that same meta that got Trump elected, that legitimized him as a celebrity. without the US celeb driven meta in media Trump would have been laughed out of politics, instead of laughed into the GOP nomination and laughed at in the White House for what he says.

in short, gas can start a fire or melt off your eyebrows. so give me a fucking break Cam.
