So last week, Washington Post revealed its hand. It also revealed a problem - how mind-bendingly easy it is to spread seemingly difficult to manufacture fake stories nationwide.
Conservative Lobbyist, Jacob Wohl staged a fake FBI raid. Using 7 paid actors and five or six high quality photos, he spread the viral clickbait that Jack Burkman had been arrested by the FBI overnight.
Within hours, Washington Post created a story citing
"FBI SOURCES" that this had actually happened, all based on tips given to them by anonymous accounts created by Jacob Wohl.
After one of the paid actors told Washington Post that the raid was fake, Washington Post
REFUSED TO REDACT the story, instead they
STEALTH EDITED the story. And they refused to edit the story before one of the paid actors came forward.
https://twitter.com/abeaujon/status/1305570155947327491This is a national embarrassment. This is the same level of proof that Washinton Post used to publish "Trump calls military losers", "Trump calls foreign nations s***hole countries", and even "Russia collusion".
Twitter has suspended the anonymous twitter account that Wohl used to spread the tips - to hide their tracks no doubt, only hyperlinks remain.
Jacob Wohl gave his take "If the media hears something they like, they will make a story about it. Even if there is zero evidence."
