His statement is in response to russian gas but it fits all situations. The only scenario the harsh-anti russian stance makes sense is if they win the war on the ground and push russians out of essentially all areas.

Here is the thing, the ukranians made their bed, they gambled for a win on the battle field. Now they can eat dirt and die or win and then what they gain from that remains to be seen. If this is a better option or not, i am not sure, only time will tell. For me personally diplomacy seemed the safer wiser choise.
