mushrooms are quite interesting. from the fact they are more alike humans than plants, to the fact that spores can survive in vacuum aka in open space and could in theory be thrown in space until they land on a planet suitable for them and they'd just keep reproducing. they're key of almost every religion, ancient and modern, and they offer huge benefits to a modern human through muscimol or psylocibin.
work of paul stamets is outstanding. from his research on psychadelic mushrooms, through mycelium and the way it works, through intelligence of a fungi, all the way to medical benefits such as turkey tail mushroom his mother beat last stage of breast cancer with when doctors gave up and said chemo can't do shit in that stage.
