Video of castration is enough for any Ukrainian soldier to think 1000 times before laying down arms, in Azovstal they where surrounded, no way out but to die from hunger/lack of water. Desertions do happen but those soldiers run away from the russian line not towards it (if they are able to move)

Anyhow you made a good argument for why they shouldn't kill POW's while the war is ongoing. It is also one of the reasons I doubt the russians did the missile strike, uk army have far more to gain from Ukrainians refusing POW and prefer to fight to death btw which would also be a potential reason why they would kill ukr POW's with a missile strike.

There is a way we will find out if the russians did this or not pretty easily. If the russians remove them from the camp to a place far from the frontline we can be almost 100% certain that it wasn't the Russians who did the strike (at the order of higher russian command). I highly doubt russian command will allow POW camp to be that close to frontline again, probably they will be sent 50+km fromt front

Wagner are shock-forces that have nothing to do with guard-duties. It makes no sense why any wagner would be close or have anything to do with money-allocated to the prison. For me, they essentially admitted everything with that 1 sentence.

Prison breaks totally make sense. Unlike WWII, where the prisoners tended to be hundreds of miles from safe territory, and did not speak the local language, Russian and Ukrainian POWs actually stand a decent chase of escape when the front lines are maybe just dozens of miles away and they can fluently communicate with the locals.
