No, i have literally never heard anyone say that.

You're unfamiliar with the leftist diatribes on the evil of ethnocentrism, and the rise of multiculturalism?

Capitalism

Indeed. The ism that maintains one should control the fruit of their own labor. How quaint.

Look at countries like Norway, Australia, etc. they have a type of socialism that ONLY works because they don't spend enough (military might) to keep out the greedy caveman... they allow the US to do that for them. Then they diss the US because they don't have the same system. :/

They do not have "a type of socialism", they run a "big government/generous welfare state"-version of capitalism. And they are only able to make it work because of their more culturally and economically homogeneous population and, in the case of Norway, Australia and Canada, the exploitation of natural resources. Underspending on their military is not a major factor in the success of their economic model.

As opposed to some other system in which you directly control the profits of your own production?

I'm not saying the idea of a sort of socialism isn't a great idea. I'm just saying that in this present world...if EVERYone of the first world countries did it...it would fall apart.

How about this. How about we let all the first world countries keep w/e ism they have, BUT we move all their countries into one big blob of land, call it... Wonderland. That would work.
Each separate country that is now in that one blob, could be like a separate dept. in that blob's govt. Some could do the socialism, some could do the capitalism, some could be for defense and border control.

I still think, that even with this imaginary Pangaea, it would eventually fall apart, but who knows.

I know, but I'm trying to be as diplomatic as possible. :)

Ah so you also subscribe to the idea that the individual is merely a part of the collective.

I hold a rather strange notion, that each human being, being the origin of all of their own thoughts, constitutes an independent individual which should freely control as much of their own production as possible.
