Aside from the fact, this closing argument has been over an hour long...it's mostly irrelevant. "George Floyd loved his mom so much he still crawled up and hugged her in the fetal position to this day." What does that have to do with disproving felony murder and discouraging reasonable doubt?

Yeah, if I was on the jury, I'd want to blow my brains out right about now

this dude reminds me of those professors at school that talk in the same fucking tone of voice for an hour

nothing, it's as relevant as people bringing up Floyd's armed robbery of a pregnant woman years earlier. emotional arguments meant to sway juries based on feelings rather than the case at hand.

Worst thing is it comes off as so pandering that it likely has the opposite effect....

absolutely. and it was 100% encouraged by a sitting Congressperson who crossed multiple state lines to incite multiple riots in MN

Depending on the complexity of the crimes, closing arguments can last an entire day just from the prosecution. Length isn’t really a problem here.

Clearly displaying the requirements for guilt is extremely important. I know the judge reviewed them in his instruction to the jury before the closing arguments, but the visual representation done here is important.

Humanizing Floyd here is also very important, especially when a character attack is essentially one of the main strategies from the defense.

If the jury actually considers the evidence, it'll clearly be a not guilty determination. The way the defense closing arguments follow the evidence makes them look brilliant and the other guy seem boring.

Idk if this website leans right or left, but the article itself is very good.

On which count? All 3?

I’m pretty sure he will be found guilty on at least the manslaughter charge.
