Unlike Republicans, Democrats are a real political party capable of governing and leading. They could've supported this minority populist position put forth by activists. Instead, they are moving in a sensible direction.

Getting fully behind calls to "defund the police" would of course be a mistake, but basically giving the protesters nothing but lipservice might also be a mistake. This has the potential to drive a wedge between the progressives/activists and the party establishment in the very moment when they could have banded together. This risks wasting the momentum which these protesters are currently having instead of tapping into their energy and using it for Biden's campaign.

I don't think so. Democrats are side stepping the bumper sticker line and putting forth real ideas for reform. On the other side, you've got Trump deliberately playing the anti-protest, anti-reform talking head.

So now moving radically away from the center is a good thing....LOL

The Press Sec just said the other day that Trump is talking through some reform ideas. Just because he isn't out on the porch screaming about it does not mean he is against it.

This just shows how out of touch you are with the American people. Biden's position is near the center, Trump's position appeals only to a small minority of voters.

That said, who knows how much this will affect the election. Just because Trump's position is unpopular doesn't mean this is the issue that will change people's votes.

Yeah, I'm sure that these protesters will be thrilled by Biden's running mate being a crooked cop descendent of slave owners who personally incarcerated hundreds of black and brown men (who didnt necessarily have to be sent to prison), just because she happens to have the same skin color as them. THRILLED!!
