I believe there was a scene in the Movie: JAWS where the Chief of Police (Brody) was asked to step out further on the front of the boat, so as to enable the marine biologist to take a photo of the Shark, in order to provide context. In this regard, the snail is either tiny, small, or massive, we will never have any way of knowing
