Since the import was stopped, but export not yet, its not strange that Rouble get back. Lack of imports also hurts Russians. Also there are still limits in exchanging currency and probably stock exchange too (too lazy to check and confirm).
Actually getting the rouble stronger isnt necessarily good thing for Russia, as it makes them earn less roubles for their oil and gas. They arent really smart I would say.

USA didnt get much oil and gas from Russia anyway, as they have their own shale gas, so they are not really participating in what you call "trade war". Its Europe that is/was dependant on Russian resources.
