Do you know what happened next after this letter? Nazis imprisoned Bandera as they didnt really want to give Ukrainians freedom they wished for.
I will tell you, ww2 was a crazy time. Poland didnt ally with the bad countries (either Germany or Russia), as a result we had to fight both of them.
Even now some people say that Poland should have allied with Germans and attack Russia (or another way), so that we get rid of at least 1 hostile state and being a vassal state would be still much better than total occupation that we had.
Hitler in 1940 wasnt worse than Putin today. And some nations still be friendly with Putin, just as they were friendly with Hitler.
Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Japan, some more were neutral which means kinda friendly too.
(Saying im neutral simply means: i dont care about bad things, I just hope others stop the bad guys so that they dont hit us. Its very selfish, and risky too)
Countries just used to make dirty politics, Ukraine is not a particulary bad when you look at others.

Traitors? Both Russia and Poland were occupiers to Ukraine back then.
You cant betray an occupant, because he was never your ally/friend.
And there is good memories of Bandera because countries tend to remember good things and forget bad things about their leaders.
For Ukrainians Bandera was a father of their independence, even if he was controversial person to other nations.
