I don't see quibbling about semantics as being useful. The point is that we could learn something from the experiment and that is a good thing.

This isn't quibbling about semantics. What you specifically described is exactly what I meant when I said "extrapolate to human society".

We cannot learn anything about human society from the mouse utopia experiments and thinking we can is a really quick way to announce you don't know what you're talking about

So why we do perform animal experiments at all?

We can learn from some animal experiments but not from this set specifically.

Animals are good for very basic things but complex things like whole society experiments are basically useless to apply to human society.

I think there can be general principles that also hold true for human society. You can't say it's all completely inapplicable just because it's animals.

We can absolutely assume that rat societies are not applicable to human society.

Rats don't even have societies.

Which is confusing, because I don't know what I've ever said to you that would inspire such negative judgment.

It isn't personal really, I see your worldview (what I have seen you express) as a sign of the rot and decadence of western civilization. While I do view that as a natural process and your worldview as a natural consequence of that process, it doesn't change what it is.

If I were to make a comparison I think it would be like watching a loved one die of some horrible illness, even if that illness was somehow self inflicted, it wouldn't change your feelings towards it, would it?

Like I said, there might be general principles to be found. In fact I can sort of see how the rat society might work when we try to compare it to the more primitive human societies. Or it can help us imagine what it was like when we were still a hunter gatherer group.

Applying the mouse utopia experiments to human society is a great way to screen people who don't know what they're talking about.

Just so you know.

Uh huh, thanks.

There aren't.

Animals that do not form societies cannot be extrapolated to animals that do.

In science you don't get to just say "well maybe it works like that for us too". You have to show it applies, and that's never been done because when its been attempted its failed.

The rat utopia experiments are a species that isn't even close to as social as we are and in a situation we will never find ourselves in.

Only people who don't know anything about research thinks we can take anything meaningful from them, which is why they were done in the 60s when we didn't know almost anything about the field of psychology. It was basically the psychological dark ages

I'm not sure what your conceptualization of my worldview is, given the strength of your disdain.
