Polio and smallpox were eradicated because we were able to develop vaccines which create life-long and sterilizing immunity. The same is not true for the current covid vaccines, nor is it even remotely realistic that we will ever be able to come up with that kind of vaccines for covid. It just doesn't work like that for a respitory virus which replicates like crazy in the upper respiratory tract. There's a reason why we haven't come up with that kind of "one-and-done" vaccine for influenza or seasonal coronaviruses either, and that's in spite of the flu killing tens of thousands of people each winter.

But since you were "doing your research", you were surely aware of these points, right?

I don't know how to tell you this, but you got the Polio vaccine as a child, and you're still immune to it today. There have been cases of a team of 50 people getting exposed to Polio, 20+ years after getting vaccinated, and the only person who caught it was the one unvaccinated guy.

Meanwhile, your COVID "vaccine" is barely effective for 3 months, you need constant boosters, and you are still able to catch and transmit the virus.

If the COVID shots were anywhere near as safe and effective as traditional vaccines with decades of data and research behind them, I don't think anyone would be against them.
