So, I've given both the park Karen and the Apartment Karen some thought, and here's my analysis:
First some basic principles:
1. In general, leave other people alone. If what they're doing is not directly effecting you or someone you know, and it's not obviously harming anyone else, do not interfere.
2. In general, if it's not your job to enforce rules, laws, or policies, do not attempt to directly enforce rules, laws, or policies unless you yourself or someone you know are being DIRECTLY harmed.
3. In general, if the scenario is not an emergency, either call the related authorities or police if you see something taking place that should not be, that doesn't directly involve you or someone you know, and does not directly cause you harm.
Taking these things into account:
1. The park Karen shouldn't have been walking her dog in that portion of the park. She shouldn't have tried to choke out her dog to control it (the leash exists for a reason). She shouldn't have tendered a false and racist police report. Basically, she acted like a complete cunt and an absolute racist. So, she has lost her dog, lost her job, apologized for being a cunt, and is now going to have to suffer for her stupidity for years. Justice (and Karma) served. On the flipside, the person recording her had no business interfering with her, no business offering her dog food that might well have been poisoned for all she knew, was neither a park ranger or a cop, and should quite frankly have shut the fuck up an minded his own business. He had no right whatsoever to interfere with her, and even less than zero attempting to coerce her animal into coming to him. The entire incident would never have happened in the first place if he'd left her alone, and simply called the proper authorities to handle the issue in a legally appropriate fashion. So while the Karen in this case is a cunt, the guy was clearly looking (and prepared) for drama. He WANTED to create a scene, and he succeeded. He's an asshole, and should neither be praised nor defended for his actions. He was in the wrong as well.
2. The apartment Karen is just a cunt. No two ways about it. She attempted to block the man's access to his own home, ask questions that she had no right to ask, followed him to his door, and outright harassed him. In literally every respect, she was in the wrong. Had she had concerns, she could have called the police. But quite frankly, if there are 4+ floors to this building, then she simply has no way of knowing who lives there, who's supposed to be there or not. Even calling the apartment manager is beyond her rights, because the apartment manager should NOT be giving out information about tenants to other tenants. There's really no other way to look at it but that this particular Karen believes herself to be in a position of authority that she's not, and believes it's her job to interfere with other people's lives based on this assumed authority. I think the man was overly patient with her, and far more forgiving than I would have been. I'd have filed a complaint with the apartment manager, and filed both a harassment report and restraining order with the police. Anyone who wants to attempt to bar me from access to my home for no reason whatsoever deserves every bit of legal trouble I can douse them in. All that being said, nothing in that video indicated any racial motivation. The assumption that she reacted as she did because the man was black is simply an assumption.
so a guy should call cops to a many acre park to enforce a leash ordinance. sure, i bet they'd have jumped right on that. the guy also stated she's a repeat offender, among many repeat offenders he deals with regularly. this is the first time he turned on a camera, and it was after she reacted defensively and pulled out HER phone. he prob would have hit the delete button if she didnt go racist.
he was in the wrong, lol. wtf man.
