This one time, I wanted to buy gold from this place with cash. Much to my surprise, they told me that they would need to report any sales involving cash when it was over a certain amount. I was both surprised and confused. However, I had nobody to ask. I didn't know who made up this law, why he made this law, and there was no way for me to challenge this law or voice my concern or even question it in any way.

It's not about the gold anymore. Think about the society we are in, politicians pass all kinds of law, many of which very clearly put restrictions on our freedoms. But we as the people have no recourse when we are disagreement with these laws. I feel that this isn't right. If there are going to be laws that concern us in such fundamental ways, we need to be able to question and dispute them, and to know who passed them and why.

What I would do if I were a law-maker: I would make it known that I am the author of a particular law. I would then explain my reason for passing this law. I would put all this information very publicly, say, on a relevant government website. Then, I would give people the opportunity to write in to me, to voice their concerns about the law, to question the reason/s behind the making of the law, to tell me that my law is shit, and in some cases, to maybe even change my mind completely and to make me rescind it. All this would be made public for all to see. I imagine it could take the shape of a public forum, much like this forum. And it would be my job to publicly defend my law.

Do you think this would be something you could get behind?

Seems the US and G7 are about to ban gold imports from Russia. Why? Dunno! They don't buy weapons or materials to build weapons, they use their own natural resources. They don't utilize international currency to build their war machine, they don't utilize international currency to build ammunition stockpiles. Seems to me that cutting off 10% of the new gold supply to the world, the biggest thing we'd be doing would be limiting a necessary element of microelectronic components, driving up the prices of all tech for everyone across the world. So hopefully you've held onto that gold. Might need it to buy toilet paper soon.

As to the subject of your topic, you sound a lot like MTG. She gave a massive interview where she talked about how bills operate in the House. The speaker (or her sit in) introduces the bill and asks for votes for and against. If the "Yay" vote is louder, it passes. If the "Nay" vote is louder, it fails. No names of who voted recorded. Until a rep directly requests an official vote. Then everyone has to personally come in and vote on the bill, and who votes yes and who votes no is recorded in public records. There's a reason the left hates her so deeply.

Point blank, what you describe should be how it is, and how it always should have been. The fact that it's not is merely another perversion of our system of Government.

Is this a good or bad thing?

So...does this mean you think my idea is good?

Sunny if you took a second to fire up your last four neurons, maybe you'd figure out why large cash transactions need to be logged and reported to the government.

That's literally the legal reasoning for it, though. To prevent one avenue for laundering money.

Do you really think I was asking about why they need to be reported? Did you not see these words, "It's not about the gold anymore"? Can you even read?
