Didn't they nerf the living shit out of the Core bosses too? I remember long time ago those fights were insane, now they seem like they have the hp of a rare mob.

Now that is definitely border-line c-word, however was that a intended nerf or what?

Core was the "final boss" before guardians and shaper showed up so he took a nerf.

But if you were to drastically increase the health of trash mobs starting at tier 11 as well as boss health, you could end up with T15 bosses that have somewhat similar health to guardians. I think it would make it interesting.

Phoenix Guardian is pretty fun. I do understand ProjectPT's point about the power creep though. Some builds go in there and one shot that fucker, same for the Minotaur.

However, my argument for that is... They probably geared their character just to do that, let them enjoy the versatility and freedom the game offers you.

Also about the "insane clear speed meta", since ProjectPT was showing some build using Vaal Spark in the Strand (which my 187%ms Ngahamu PF can clear faster than that), as an argument that the clear speed is too "high" and somehow detrimental? By who's standards though? ProjectPT's?

My argument towards that is well, the game lets you play at any pace you want. If you want to do an essence drain build and walk like a turtle through a shaped strand map, go for it. If someone wants to make a quicker build, go for it. It's all about freedom and that's what makes PoE so fucking great. However, he views it as a detriment, which sadly I will never understand.

How can you not think the clear speed is too high?

We kill entire packs of monsters before their AI has time to animate a full attack. Some monsters and bosses have several interesting mechanics that we don't even get to see.

Clear speed is totally subjective though. The choice to make it that high is dependent totally on the player's choices -- GGG doesn't force us to do baked_chichken offspring shield chargers. Hell, look at ProjectPT's old essence drain character.

This type of flexibility with character building can only be a net positive

One person's "fast paced" build doesn't mean the entire game is flawed and has type of "clear speed meta" that hinders it.

By this logic, a really shitty Diablo 2 build means that the game developers don't know what they are doing and that D2 is a slow paced pile of garbage (which it's not)

The fault is towards the player's build, not the game itself [Assuming you don't like their build] - However, that's subjective and up to the person playing it :)

Clear speed isn't subjective. If you're playing a build that can kill things so fast that they don't have time to animate a single attack, then you're no longer playing the game. You're just walking through a map with disabled monsters.

If you want to maximize reward/hour you have to go fast so yes it's forced down your throat. If monsters had adjusted health and adjusted reward, you'd get rewarded just as much for actually EXPERIENCING the game.

The 0.1% doesn't really matter when the game makes money off the 99.9%.

Also, good luck getting to 100 with shitstorm walk everywhere without adrenaline flask ptshitbuild meta.
