or Insulin inj. sc preferred if the patient/insurance can afford it.

Also, all major insurance (Medicare/Medicaid/private) covers insulin. It is the novel oral agents that have you have difficulty getting coverage for and have to show your patient has failed abcde...etc medication already or are intolerant for the 5+ reasons on their questionnaire

Keto is high fat/good macros, not high protein.

I just wish those people kill their liver so maybe that way, after several years of fat, they will understand an excessive effort is required from the body to convert nutrients. Keto diet include proteins too.
Please just do it.

Liver is not the primary organ that will be negatively impacted by this diet in the long run, will likely be your kidneys first. Don't know why you keep posting the first thoughts to enter your head.

It's irresponsible to promote this diet that way... Here.
And im disagree... Liver is more important.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just chalk this to a language barrier issue

I will past what a french doctor* said about this diet.

*a real one, and not a prick thinking he is.

What foods are allowed in the ketogenic diet?

The ketogenic diet is a restrictive diet because it only allows meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, butter, oils, oilseeds, some rare low-carbohydrate vegetables such as green leafy vegetables, spinach , kale or lettuce as well as hard cheeses. Other dairy products, from milk to whole yogurts, are allowed in moderation.

Vegetables with more carbohydrates disappear from the plates. No more carrots, beets, corn or sweet potatoes. More fruits except the avocado considered as the star food of the ketogenic diet thanks to its content in monounsaturated fats and of course, no sweetness in the program.

It is advisable to hydrate well with at least two liters of water a day and to supplement with vitamins, trace elements as well as fibers not present in the food choices.

Can we eat all the fat in an unlimited way?

No, you can not eat all the fat in an unlimited way. Be careful with the type of fat absorbed. Pro-inflammatory omega-6 must be limited, as in sunflower, grape seed and wheat germ oils, but the consumption of monounsaturated fatty acids in olive oil and oilseeds as well as in saturated fatty acids is free. The ketogenic diet places special emphasis on the use of coconut oil, whose saturated fatty acids are not so harmful to the arteries and are transformed rather quickly into ketone bodies.

In conclusion, Dr. Catherine Serfaty-Lacrosnière, what is your opinion on the ketogenic diet?

The ketogenic diet is a restrictive diet that has specific indications. If this diet is interesting in cases of serious pathologies such as severe epilepsy of the child where its beneficial effect is scientifically documented, we must seriously warn the candidates for thinness against the side effects of such a diet, especially if it is continued for a long time because it can lead to deficiencies, especially fiber and vitamins.

My issue isn't so much what was said but the attitude forum frenchy is taking. The point is that there just isn't evidence out there to make claims one way or another yet every person and his dog wants to input their "thoughts".
