I'd prefer just changing the designation to male/female instead of man/woman

Why host male/female segregated events if the female events are just going to be dominated by intersex or transgender participants?
If you want to push for fair competition instead of balanced competition, then just accept than women are going to be unable to compete with men in 99.9% of events due to sexual dimorphism.

If the gender separation exists, then we have a compelling reason to care about enforcing a strict definition of what constitutes a gender, because blurring that line gives some competitors and undue advantage.

I don't know anything about the competitors chromosome makeup but I'm sure it is easy to check with medical science And that is pretty much it. That explicitly defines male vs. female.



I thought it was like this. Stupid to define biological phenomena in terms of social phenomena.

Dont worry, IAAF will take care to get away of any "problems" if too much people cry.
OP's is the exception that prove the rule, and the federation can change rules (ie; only allowing xx & yy, max testos. levels etc...)

Doping is a way bigger problem but it require to discuss about numbers & sciences, incompatible with OP.

all rules have exceptions. usually exceptions in line statistically with the occurrence of a transsexual person. I mean what are we talking about a .001% occurrence? I'm not talking transgenders, im talking legit born transsexuals.

seems like an awful lot of fuss for such a rare event. maybe when the olympics are flooded with transsexual competitors and women are pushed to the bottom we can have a more serious discussion on this. To be quite honest I could see countries like Russia who are already dirty rotten cheaters going on manhunts for transsexuals to legally put competitors with an edge in their teams, but unless it happens I don't see this as any more than a rule for 1-2 people. And anytime you make a rule for only a few people it always turns out not worth it IMO.

Lets ban Usain Bolt from competing as well, he's too good for men's 100m and he doesn't even run the way every other sprinter is taught to.



It's just one arbitrary definition though. Medically useful, but still arbitrary.
