I said make health insurance non-profit, not health care. It would knock at least a few percent in costs off the GDP.

Profit isn't the largest driving factor. Costs are.

In a sense, Insurance might be driving the cost of Health Care up - but the solution is not to take away insurance - it is to make Healthcare Professionals more accountable for their actions.

*Obama - your premiums will not go up!

*Real life - premiums go up

Premiums go up every single year. They went up a little more than average under Obamacare, but not by a whole bunch.

What Obama did "lie" about is that everyone could keep their healthcare if they liked it. Some people lost their healthcare and had to switch to the ACA because the bill was written ambiguously in some areas.

Healthcare costs have risen 196% over the last 10 years. The wage increase has been 50% and inflation has been around 30%. Absolutely ridiculous that our healthcare is the way it is. Much of it is a result of Obamacare. Just like with student loans, insurance companies can jack up the rates because they know Uncle Sam will help foot the bill.

Healthcare costs were rising pretty fast before Obamacare, I'm going to need to see the before and after rates of increase to believe this....

Was already 2x times more expensive than Canada before Obamacare, so yes we have to see the before and after.

Even there,10 years is too soon to evaluate the costs, any major change imply short term costs and ajustements.

Fact is we pay 1/2 of your health cost in Canada and we have free healthcare since a while.

Obamacare is the move in the right direction but maybe need many ajustements, it does seems to be complicated compared to us. Here we simply have free healthcare card and the bill is payed directly with taxes, only thing to do is to make new picture each 5 years and send it to government (to avoid fraud from american tourists ;) )

im from germany
we have an obligatory insurance here.
Everyone must have a health care insurance.

This is true for most europe.

This was not true for merica. There were people in merica who couldnt afford to go to the doctor or the hospital because of this.

What obama did (not the concrete how he did it, which could always have been better with anything you are going to change) was overdue and totally the right thing to do.
I understand that some people now pay for a healthcare who didnt do so before and they are whining because of that.
To those i can only say: deal with it.
Merica was (and is) way behind in many things and its about time they catch up.
