Virtue of it not strengthening the United States and it doing the opposite for the enemy it weakens the U.S. You forgot that the radical Islam cause relies on convincing people to join them, and it's pretty easy for them to shape the discourse while recruiting new personnel if they paint Tsarnaev as a freedom fighter executed by the tyrants. It's irrelevant if it's true or not.

I think it definitely has merit. This is sort of similar to the Obama administration's commitment to not relate ISIS with Islam. It didn't make sense to me at first, but I began to realize it was a good strategy.
Still, I think as a rule, it's good for America to execute home grown terrorists.
