that would be fine if there were competition in the market place

Perhaps it would be best if we just charged users based on how much data they use per month like the phone companies then. Split that cost between consumer and provider.

It's fair though. We have tiered water, gas, and electricity prices based on consumption...why not internet too?

It kind of already happens. My mediacom had a 250gb limit, and I think netvision I'm on now has something like that.

...after reading his comments and listening to some analysis I believe that Obama actually thinks that internet access is a right and on top of that he believes that it should be free ( which seems to imoly that it should be provided to everyone at taxpayer expense ) .

There were plans to have free city wifi all over my city and it was all the buzz for a while... the deal fell through, though, so we have to pay like everyone else still. But, I ask you this - what is your opposition to socialized internet, especially considering the primary cost to taxpayers lies in the infrastructure?

it would be nice if this were actually implemented but it never will

the idea behind usage based billing with isp's only goes one way, to charge people for using more, you're not going to be let off the hook just because you're using less

you'll just get better deals the more you use

though i'm not sure i'd call any of these good deals considering the 6000% markup on internet costs - last i checked a few years ago anyway

...I am opposed to socialist creep into our government and society ...it only adds to more dependence on the federal government and adds to the entitlement culture that saps incentive .
