clearly both of us are making stupid assumpitons concerning there being a list or not being a list, its unfortunate I had to show you how stupid you were rather than you seeing it in your self.

So you finally see you were wrong but still can't admit it. Sad.

saying you can't read a religious genre book has nothing to do with the religious practice of the person.

where does it say the lesson only prescribed a certain genre?

your quotes have nothing to do with the question.

i only claimed genre control is acceptable in an academic environment.

It was an accelerated reading program so there should have just been a list to choose from.

and dark is very contradictory of himself.

clearly we don't know, so how can you make such a claim?

you should really listen to you own advice.

Err sorry, took the wrong quote

more like genre control.

your assumption that this is genre control is no more stupid than my assumption that the teacher might have mentioned there being a predefined list of books to read when calling the students parents rather than asserting the entire issue is cuz religion.

Trust me..i'd much rather see someone talking out of ignorance but being level headed than seeing someone talking out of ignorance and screaming "THIS TEACHER HATES RELIGIOUS PEOPLE AND NEEDS TO BE FIRED AND A LAWSUIT NEEDS TO BE FILED!".

You are forgetting something...it was a reply to your premise not my premise.

i made no assumptions but rather gave an alternate viewpoint of the argument you laid out.

err, maybe it is alittle stupider.

teacher is clearly a religious bigot, the school and the teacher both need to be reprimanded.

furthermore, in that the teacher points to religion as the issue rather then a predefined list (assuming there was one) only strengthens the argument that the teacher was discriminatory towards the student based on religion.

so the premise that the teacher would have mentioned there being a specific genre or predefined list when he contacted the parents if there was a predefined list or specific genre was countered how?

if either of these existed, the teacher surely would have mentioned them rather than blaming the entire thing of religion.

though that's assuming the teacher isn't a religious bigot who was enraged by his students condescending attitude and decided to immediately attack religion as the main issue.

so either we have no list/genre and a religious bigot for a teacher, or we have a list but the teacher is still a religious bigot because he chose not to mention it.

either way the teacher is a religious bigot while the school can only offer excuses in an effort to save their skin, for even if they save themselves the lawsuit from the student by dismissing the teacher, the lawsuit from the teacher would cost them many times more.
