I hear this a lot and I'm kind of tired of it.  I don't think pro-life voters want to oppress women, they just don't want abortions happening.  It just so happens that only women get pregnant.  That's like Viagra is sexist because only men take it.

tired of hearing the truth?
in case you have not noticed, there is a lot of sexism in society and most of that comes from religious ground
the male writing and interpretation of scripture has perpetuated sexism very nicely since patriarchal societies took over

and in case you haven't heard yet: pro-choice is not equal to pro-abortion but to give women the right to decide over their own body (within limits, no one favours late term abortions)

how come is it that i do get the feeling that this has to do with some of my earlier comments on this subforum

namely, me stating the fact that human "races" aren't a taxonomically viable concept (especially in anthropology)
and that ski'ing and basketball aren't that much about genes at all

have you started pretending that your arbitrary definitions of humans as distinctive "races" are based on... are now different species altogether?

Doesn't really have anything to do with you, this is part of my core of my belief system.

Good cartoon. I expect it's merely a joke though and you don't think it's actually a viable argument against my position.

In capitalist society women have to be able to have a career to have a life and live freely.  If they cannot control their reproduction, they cannot do that.

That is all.  For all you pro-lifers, don't get abortions.  Late term abortions are already regulated heavily by the state and aren't given electively, only therapeutically.  When the egg is just a non-human clump there is only one party involved in an abortion and everybody else should mind their own business.

Women are perfectly capable of controlling their reproduction, and no, they don't have to commit murder to do it.

let me remind you that the state decides what is murder and not the church
and the church's view on when abortion is a sin (and what type of sin) has changed over the centuries
excommunicate abortionists if you want, that is clearly within the church's domain
but stay out of matters of state

let, me relink a cartoon on your conservative friends:

Humans decide what is murder based on reason, not the state, and not the Church.

'murder' is a legal term and as far as i know the law needs authority coming from something like a 'state' to be enforced
you are welcome to use the term 'killing' if you feel so - which is the term used in the bible B)

You're right of course, "murder" as a legal term is defined by the state.

I'm referring to "murder", though, as the far more important ethical term.

within ethics they use the term 'murder' exactly in the legal sense :D
there is no different definition of murder from the legal one
(except in slang or when talking about crows)
