I hear this a lot and I'm kind of tired of it.  I don't think pro-life voters want to oppress women, they just don't want abortions happening.  It just so happens that only women get pregnant.  That's like Viagra is sexist because only men take it.

It is oppressing women because it's taking away their right to control what's happening with their body.

It's oppressing children because it's taking away their right to control whether they live or die.

Childhood is a developmental stage after toddlerhood and infancy. We're talking fetuses.

.. Humans who correctly use reason to understand ethical truths ought to be the authorities when it comes to legal legislation of ethics. ...

no no no - believing that there are 'ethical truths' does not make ethical positions 'ethical thruths'

No, just as biologists that believe in the theory of evolution are the only correct biologists.

no no no - the theory of evolution is not a belief system, while some details might get tweaked a little bit the principle is well established (note: abiogenesis or whatever is totally outside of it)

Not sure where I stated that was the case.

Again, not sure how that's related to my statement.

A fetus in this case is more analogous to a parasite than a child.

you implied that 'ethical truths' existed
and
you implied that the theory of evolution is a belief

is there something like an ethical truth? together with myriad others i disagree
and biologists who disagree with the principle of evolution are plainly wrong in that regard
(they can still be excellent biologists in other matters)

Any biologist who does not accept the theory of evolution can be shown why they're wrong with facts. So that's a bad analogy.

Correct on both counts.

Correct again.

Once again, not seeing the inconsistencies in my beliefs.

As can those who do not accept ethical truths, though empirical evidence for some reason seems to trump reason for most people.

Since my brain connections are less numerous and slower than yours, perhaps you'd like to lay a few of these ethical truths on me and how you (or someone else) arrived at these objectively true conclusions?
