1.) Trading basics

At this section, I'll try to explain the trade process' most common elements, and introduce them.

Under the Trading Grounds, you must to choose your realm, and mode at first.
You have to post a New Topic, after you are in the right forum:

• Topic Title: Here you may write some attractive like "Offer really cute Caster Ring", but you can also post the stats only.
  
  You must post that you want to sell, or buy the specified item. (Usually by adding the words Offer or Need )
  
  
• Topic Desciption: This is the place to write about your item, a little more exactly.
  
  
• Post Message: Here you have to specify the item 100% exactly with all properties. Posting picture is a good point, to avoid several questions.

1.1.) Perform the Trade

Before all, here is a detailed guide about How to Trade on d2jsp.

When you made your decision to sell your item, or buy something, you have to start a PM conversation with the customer via Personal Messages.

The PM must contain some informations :

• You must specify the item you talk about. Good point if you attach the link too for trade topic.
  
  
• The game, where you make the transaction, and the password. Warning : Please NEVER use open games. This is frequently at new users.
  
  
• The character and account, you use to trade.
  
  
• The price in forum gold.

Since the customer has joined the game, he have to answer to your PM, and confirm the informations. After this is done, time to do the exchange.

In this system, someone have to give first, and this is the point where the problems appears.
Homever, there is a 100% safe way to complete the trade, by using a Mediator : How to Request a Mediator and prevent scams.

If you don't want to call a Mediator, you HAVE TO READ this guide : How to Prevent being Scammed. Explains, how to finish the trade in a secured way.

Warning : Secured does NOT means secure. This means with the proofs you made, you are able to force the scammer to pay back, if he want to get unlocked.

• Don't post the game informations into any topic. Only via PM.
  
  
• If someone sent you a Personal Message about trading, you should force him to post his offer into the trade topic.

1.2.) Start price

The question is, set up one or not ?
You can set up a price, which means no one can make offers below that price. To make one, just easily write "Start is XY forum gold" to the topic.

• Pro : You will be able to sell sooner it. You will look confident.
  
  
• Contra : There is a chance that you set it up for too high, and no one will take the start.

I suggest everyone, to specify a Start price always - Independent of we're talking about a high or low value item.
To choose the right one, you always have to set lower than the already figured out final price.

Tip : Around 30-50% works always as Start.

1.3.) Fast Trade price - alias FT/ BIN

In line with Start price you can set up an other opportunity, which declares the final price you want, and you would sell for this price immediately.

• Pro : Faster trade process.
  
  
• Contra : You might be choosen the wrong price, and sell it cheaper than it's real value.

About this, I don't say you have to set up always.

Usually I set the FT price a little higher than the value I want for it / I think about it, and decrease it by every Bump.

1.4.) Deadline

Deadline (DL) is an other useful conception. This is usually between the Start and FT price, close to final value.

This works as the Fast Trade price, with one difference: Here you make a deal with the customer about a time-limit, when you will sell it to him, for the price which is defined by DL.

Mostly this interval is some bumps or hours.

1.5.) Bumping

Bump means Bring Up My Post, word by word. Used to bring the post up to the first page.

Warning : Every forum have its own Bump rule!
In this case - at Trading Grounds - you may bump in every 4th hour. Not less.

The hardest decision about bumping that is how long should you wait before sell.
I suppose you to do not sell anything, below it's real value. You have time. Someone will need sooner or later.
So, the answer is easy. Wait until you get an offer you think looks real, or you want for it.

If you are still not sure about the price, and someone bid on it, you can bump your topic at Price Check, and assume the question, that "Should I sell this for XY forum gold ?".

2.) How to Price Check

2.1.) Price Check forums

You have to post a New Topic into one of these forums - Depends on the core, you play at:

• Softcore - Price Check
  
  
• Hardcore - Price Check

The topic MUST contain the following informations, to the price checkers would be able to give a decent help :

• The item's properties - Attributes, name, picture if possible Screenshot capturing and posting guide
  
  
• The realm - Europe, USEast, USWest or Asia
  
  
• The mode - Ladder or Non-Ladder
  
  To specify the realm and mode informations shorter, you may clip the words above, and post a shorter form like : EU NL.

Hint : Not necessary to specify the core.

After posting the thread, probably you have to wait to receive an answer. You should except answers like :

• "100+ fg in my opinion" - Means, he thinks that worth more than 100 fg
  
  
• "200 at top" - Probably does not worth more than 200 fg

Read the Common terms glossary, if you don't understand something.

Hint : At this topic, you may ask the price checkers to specify separated the - above explained - Start, FT and Deadline prices.

2.2.) Other opportunities

To find out more precisely the prices, there are some other helpful choices.

• By using the search feature on Traing grounds. This is effective only with common items - like uniques, runewords, runes - but this is important, and works!
  
  
  Here you can look out for what price goes the items you searched for.
  
  How ? After pressing the Search button, just look out the topics, where someone offer and/or need the searched item.
  In example, one of the topics is "Need Ist rune Offer 15 Fg", and an other is "Offer Ist runes Need 18 fg each". From these you can figure out a certain idea easily.
  
  
  
• By checking the Price Guide stickies
  Usually, they are pretty valid - this is true only for most common items, since rares and like these items cannot be pre-defined.
  
  Current PC Guides : Europe Softcore Non-Ladder, Europe Softcore Ladder, USWest Softcore Non-Ladder, USWest Softcore Ladder, USEast Softcore Ladder.
  
  Tip : In these long stickies, you should use your browser's Find function (by pressing Ctrl + F usually) to orientate fast.
  
  
  
• Asking for price check at mIRC
  You may receive answers faster using mIRC. Read the mIRC Price Check Guide to use it.

Warning : Be carefully with selling items, without at least 1-2 price suggestion. If you own a possible high value item, and someone send you a Personal Message about it with the reason "he needs fast" and offering a 'nice' price, he probably know that you don't know its value, so he want to trick you by buying cheaper. This is frequently.

Note : You may bump your topic at Price Check forums in every 12th hour, while waiting other opinions. Not less, please respect the bump rule always, otherwise your topic will be closed.
