dont only older cards support sli/crossfire just buy a better card also with crossfire/sli you los about 30% of your performance due to no 2 pieces of silicon are the same also 6700 xt doesn't support crossfire I recommend a 6900xt or a 3080.

just get a 6900 / 6950 XT much better value for money and a 6900XT at least here is cheaper / roughly the same as 2 6700XT and you will get better performance.

1. They have to be the same card
2. It’s pointless these days:
… A. Cards are powerful enough now
… B. I don’t even think any modern games even support it
Save your money homie. Just buy a better single card

+1 SLI is obsolete except for extremely niche cases

yep pretty much after 1k series
I miss it pretty much all my systems were sli plus another card
some games were a game within a game to get it to work
now days Ii do still run 2 cards but that is to drive more monitors
and I know couple others that use other cards for workloads
Thank you all for the advice/information.
I should of mentioned what my Current Build is (so you understand what level of upgrade im getting)
CPU : i7-6700k
Motherboard : MSI Z170A SLI PLUS ATX LGA1151
Ram: 4x 8gb Corsair ddr4
Video Card: 960ti Nvidia Geforce
HDD: Toshiba 2TB
SsD : 990 Pro Samsung (I think?)
PSU: 1000Watt
Wifi Adapter : TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi Card
Im only trying to spend up to 1000$ on a new Graphics Card ( I currently struggle running Tarkov and Mw2 Warzone).
Since you all are saying SLI is not the way. What do you think my best Single Card Option is going to be?
