I know I've looked on many sites some of them rate this significantly higher or significantly lower though.
Was more inquiring about the car itself than the $$$

Honestly, if you are just after a cheap daily driver, I'd buy Japanese over American in that category. That being said, a friend of mine that owns a maid franchise and cleans homes has about a dozen sonics and sparks and swears by them.

Just recently traded my wifes '14 Sonic 5 speed in, probably one of the best cars we have ever owned.

If you have a family of more than 3, it will not be a comfortable car. However it gets decent gas milage and will fit anywhere.

The ONLY thing that went wrong with the car in 8-9 years was a factory recall and put over 250k miles on it.
Everything else was your basic oil changes and tire costs and standard milage maintenance.

I own a 2013 car that I purchased brand-new that year. I'm currently just about 30,000 miles away. For me, it's been a good car. The compressor for my air conditioning system was the only major component I needed to replace, and Chevrolet paid for it. I have a 1.8-liter engine, but I believe hatchbacks have 1.4-liter engines. I've heard the 1.4s have water pump problems, so that's something to think about. I enjoy driving my car and would buy it once more if I could.

Don't those engines have bad cooling and lubrication systems.

Get a Honda.
