White is not a monolithic group. Never has been.

Norwegian immigrants used to get into gang wars with the poles, russians, etc. Theyre all "white". Italians used to get into knife fights with the irish. If you said "why are you fighting, youre both white" they would have laughed at you and disemboweled you with a paring knife in the street.
