WHERE IS STORM???
Hey Bob,
Take this as constructive criticism, because it is.
1. Idea is awesome. 25 different 'aspects' ( or i guess 24) is a fantastic spread that could really allow people to open up and try different aspects of the game. This is a truly great opportunity to expand the playstyles of everyone in the game. This format is a great idea.
2. The timing is less than ideal. as discussed before. trying to get buy-in <1 week one of the most hyped dates (at least directly on this website) is not particularly good planning. maybe in 1 month, after people are flush with fg after a solid reset, might have been a better option.
3. The choice of squares is also less than Ideal. At a reasonable look and thought, 10+ of your squares are a direct negative effect for an account.
For example, someone is trying to go 3/3. If they fail, they have to delete the character, which deletes the profs that may have been gained which is a negative for game-time played. Something along the lines of (bring a new character to monk without having more then 2 in any single prof) perhaps would have been better. Why would anyone even attempt to participant except for e-peen when 40% of the squares result in a direct negative effect for their time spent.
4. Of the remaining 15, I would say 7 are 100% positive regardless of whether they finish the challenge, so the thoughts are there for these types of squares.
5. I also dislike the way you responded to the naysayers. Which also reduced motivation to participate tbh. Seeing how rapidly it devolved into shit talking in which you were an active participant really didn't help activity. I would agree a bit bias against HC, but to be fair, HC is a niche and shouldn't always expect to be catered to (talking to all of you HC players here) But the direct response with the flaming and the escalation was not the right answer for a response. For example a square could have been * do a HC climb with a new character with zero proficiencies* This would have brought a couple SC players over to HC to do at least one climb, but maybe more.
6. In the end of the day, you have been a high quality ambassador for this game and have definitely been a net positive for this game, as evidenced by the proactive event planning and other situations.
7. The idea absolutely has merit and execution is nearly there, I would say 80+% . I hope you go back to the drawing board and come back with another event in the future with the same format and don't be discouraged by the negative Nancy's.
Thanks Bob, we will see how many people flame just for the sake of burning or not, but hey
