I know for pvm, if you were going es build for sorc, resistances don't matter as much. Since you only take 5% of damage to your health.
So it would calculate damage as -100res. With the new sunder charms, should you prioritize getting some res?

Does any1 know the excact penalty of sunder charm?

-90 to -70 for fire, light, cold, psn.

it's 5% if your running 95 ES

Yes this is assuming max absorption of 95% which is level 40 es.

just like 95 es pvp sorcs

res isnt needed

So even if your res is going to be -170, the damage you take won't matter enough to want some res? Ok.

-100 is the max to be exact you should be fine

but res isnt applied before ES so youll take a lot of damage

I personally would get 75 Onscreen Res for pve

depending on spec

Cold is fine

Fire watch out fore fire mobs

Light watch out for souls

i would go blizz or orb

no cold damage mobs

I don't think you understand what I'm asking.

You take damage, 95% is absorbed unmitigated with es. Your life then takes damage, that is affected by res. You now have -170 res instead of -100 res because of the new sunder charm. So you take that 5% damage as if you have -170 res.
I'm asking if you should think about getting some res if taking damage with -170 res is going to hurt a lot more than -100.

edit: Like if you're using lightning sunder charm with es, should you maybe get some light res? Or is the damage you take to life still low enough to just be healed with a prayer merc?
