Idk if that's the case cause population can grow big relatively quick anyway and some countries got a whole lot of people... Depends on where. We recovered just fine from near extinction events, those asteroid impacts 11600 & 12800 years ago, idk which one was worse or if both are confirmed impact events but at least one of them. And that volcano around 74000 years ago, apparently humanity had really low numbers then too.

Many don't wanna have kids cause of the state of their nations, or the world, wars, government overreaches corrupt education systems etc. I would not wanna have kids going to the school of my country, the books have a lot of propaganda, and yet it's obligatory..

I don't get his argument of "if there are aliens, where are they"

Look at a squid, camoflaging itself in the environment. An et species that has interstellar travel capability probably also have very refined & advanced camo tech. They might stand right next to anybody or fly right above and nobody wouldn't even know.

Oh i listened back he as said, if there are aliens they've probably observed us for a very long time.
