Watched 1 episode, no thanks. Just makes me want to continue house of the dragon instead.

Getting bad reviews on IMDb. Is this just from super fans of the movies?

I’ve never seen the movies, would I like the show?

still haven't seen, me and my fiance will be though when we get some time. interesting that some people hate the hobbits, me and my fiance love lotr and hobits and watch one sequel or the other pretty frequently.

The movies are in my opinion the best trilogy ever made.

I also enjoyed the first two episodes of the show.

I didn't feel like it crammed woke messages down our throats like people were saying it was going to. It is nowhere near as bad as Disney lately in that regard. It is actually pretty good. The visuals and score are movie quality.

First two episodes were great. But there's a lot of whining about the black elf and the black dwarf, bunch of review bombing going on.

I'm happy with it so far. Wouldn't get a 10/10 rating for me and yes the first episode was a little slow, but the second one seems to be picking it up quite a bit and the visuals are great.

Glad to see that there isn't a ton of bad CGI like I was expecting from the trailers outside of the initial talk-over scenes in the first episode.

And yeah, if you look at the reviews they are mostly either 4/5s or 1s, and the vast majority of the 1s seem to be purists complaining that it either isn't loyal to source material or that it is too "woke". Yes, there is a single black elf and there is a female dwarf that you can identify as female, but outside of that I didn't notice anything that would be considered "woke", and it certainly wasn't in your face in the way say Picard S2 was.

I'd agree I would generally prefer them to be loyal to the source material, but hey, LOTR is easily one of my favorite series and that wasn't loyal to the source material, so I'm not going to stop watching over that.

I don't agree with casting to virtue signal but it doesn't ruin the show. It goes against the source material but it really doesn't affect the plot.

I was very skeptic going into it and it has the makings of being a solid show. It won't top the movies but that is kind of an impossible task.
