if my merc carries this does the % To Enemy Lightning Resistance work only for his light attacks or also my sorc light attacks
ALSO if it only works for the mercs attacks what good is to a lightning caster ?

Short answer: That's how they coded.

Long answer: Even if you equip Griffon's, your party members don't enjoy the - LR.

You can answer if you read two responses correctly.

There is no space you can put but.

if you handle Infinity it works for you only

items with - enemy resist only work for the character (!) holding the item. so if your merc equips the infy, his attacks profit from -45 to -55lr AND from the -85(?)lr of the conviction aura, whereas your sorc only profits from -85(? again)lr of conviction. same works for traps in etc. this means that -X lr on infinity for merc is completely pointless (unless you give him a dream helm, but nobody does that^^)

its the conviction aura that does the work..
